God told Joshua to institute a 7day praise party. Imagine what kind of pent up emotions that had to be bottled up in these people as they walked silently around the walls of Jericho not knowing exactly what God was going to do but knowing that God would show up and show out on their behalf.
Shout, for the victory is yours, that’s what God said but he gives clear cut instructions for how the victory is carried out. Can I tell you my beloved that just because it’s your victory doesn’t mean it’s your fight.
Never is the believer in greater danger of a fall than right after a victory. (Why?) We are so prone to drop our guard and begin trusting in ourselves or in our past victories rather than the Lord. One victory never guarantees the next. Only as it builds our confidence in the Lord and develops our wisdom in appropriating God’s Word do our victories aid us for the next battle. Always, the basis of victory is the Lord Himself and our absolute dependence on Him. Don’t fall into the trap of trusting in the victory instead of trusting the Victor!!
Sometimes when we are defeated we question God instead of checking ourselves. Joshua did the right thing, he finally consults God. “Oh My Great Sovereign God what have you gotten me into”? You should have left me in my comfort zone God. Isn’t that what we do? God tells us to go left, we go right and then we have the nerve to ask God what is He doing? The next thing we do is go into PITY PARTY MODE. Nobody knows how hard it is/ what I’m dealing with etc . Then Joshua said, Lord the people might not believe in me anymore.. Hello!! Is that some of us? Worried about what people think about us.
God told Joshua Get UP! And Pick Your Face Up Israel sinned and it has to be expunged. Often we say we are waiting on God to bless us when God is waiting on us to clean up our act. God told Joshua I will not be with you until those things I banned are destroyed from among you. Our challenge today and our focus is to be totally honest and say is there something in my life that God banned? Am I waiting on God while He’s waiting on me? Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Nothing is ever accomplished with our face in the dirt or with our eyes on our failures and problems. First, we must confess our failures and the things that caused them. Then we must seek to learn from them. Finally, we need to know that God’s will for us is immediate recovery and faith in the grace of God. God’s will is for us to get up clean up gather up and let’s go up!! Many times we live in perpetual defeat because we don’t know what to do the morning after. God has a plan for your life. It is to bring you to an good and expected place of peace in Him. He wants to reverse the curse of perpetual failure and have you moving from victory to victory in Him. Let's pray to our God to strengthen us and Let's admit it and Quit it. Then God can get the glory out of our lives and our lights. Remember We Are Salt And Light. God Bless!!!
